Where I’m headed next…
On Memorial Day (USA), I’m headed to Copenhagen, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, and then doing a 24 hour stopover in Reykjavik. I’ll be gone for 10 days and I’m traveling solo again. I am excited to once again head to northern European countries and to blend a little. It makes staying under the radar a little easier. I really like people watching and talking to locals when I travel.
My first 4 days will be spent in Copenhagen at an Airbnb staying with a family that seem like very cultured and interesting people who are living their best life. I have plans to do a walking tour in Christiana and to see the highlights (more on that in another post) and I’m starting to add restaurants, bars, and cafes to my list.
I am heading to Torshavn, in the Faroe Islands, directly from Copenhagen. I have plans to get my bearings the first afternoon and evening I am there and the next day, at 1 pm, I am running a half marathon.I originally signed up for the full but my body needs a break from that distance and my heart was not in it fully when I started training. I am also glad that I am not jumping right into a full marathon the first full day there.
I have celebration dinner reservations already (more on that later) and then the next day, I am headed out on a zodiac boat tour of some of the southeastern islands. I plan to hike some of the mountain trails near my Airbnb that day as well. For my last full day there, I plan to drive the islands and plot out a route to get me as far north as I can for a day trip and see all that I can. My final day, I leave in the afternoon so I’m hoping to get to that lake in the photo above (source is linked) which is somewhat close to the Vagar airport. Then I fly out to the Reykjavik domestic airport and spend the night in a hostel.
This trip is coming together, I’m a little nervous about trying to do too much but I also don’t think I’ve ever done that and been exhausted and cranky with myself for cramming too much in. At least with the Faroe Islands, it is mostly nature I am hoping to see and there are no opening and closing hours for that. :)
