Sometimes you plan for things and they don’t happen and you’re left to make alternative plans. And then sometimes you count on certain funds to come through and then they’re snatched away and you have to redo your budget for a trip. This is not what I want to be doing a little over a month before leaving for Scandinavian countries that are very expensive, yet it is what I am doing. I’m quite salty about it, but I am not going to regret my trip. I am going to spend a little less on the trip and a lot less in this next 30 days or so and be happy that almost all lodging and flights are paid for in full. I am planning to not rent a car now and instead taxi to and from the airport in the Faroe Islands and book alternative tours on my free days. It will end up costing me less by several hundred dollars.
What is the point of this post? To prove that a few setbacks won’t ruin your trip or ruin it. I’m going to scrimp and save and be smart over the next few weeks - even with three birthdays coming up (oy). This too shall pass.
