Hi.

Welcome to my blog, where I document my adventures. I hope you have a nice stay!

My travel essentials wish list This is a more of a wish list, for the moment. Yet it is a list that I consider essential for future travels, for me. An e-reader - I just ordered the new Kindle Fire, it comes out September 30. I am excited. I can stop carrying extra weight in the form of books when I travel. I am a voracious reader and I am not going to lie, I can’t wait to have access to all of the literary classics that are now free because the publishing trademark (or whatever it is) is beyond expired and publishers can’t charge for them. I also have a dear friend who is going to send me a lot of books she has on her Kindle. Love it. A camera - This I have thought long and hard about. I love taking pictures, especially landscapes. I would like to know more about photography, yet I don’t have much interest in actually taking a class. When I read something about f-stop, aperture, ISO, etc, my eyes glaze over and I fall asleep. I need to get over that though, I would like to have a DSLR camera, like a Nikon or a Canon, that I can use with some skill. I want to take beautiful photographs that are high quality. Thus, I want to get a DSLR camera by next June to practice with at home in Chicago (a photogenic city!) and take with me on my travels. If I have to take a day-long workshop or a few classes on using it, so be it. I don’t to spend the money to use it on auto all the time. A converter/adapter - WHY DO I NOT ALREADY HAVE THIS, is my question. I borrowed one for Iceland, from my sister. Hers was a gift she acquired on a 6 week trip to China in the summer of 2014. It was free but it worked! With all of the travel plans I have bouncing around in my brain, I need one. Christmas is coming, and this one will go on my list! Carry-on size rolling suitcase - obviously, I have my eye on this one Other items that I have or that others may want.      Airplane blanket - I always carry on a large pashmina-style scarf that I use as a blanket Eye mask - I own one, it comes with me on every trip. I don’t always use it, but it is an easy to pack, just-in-case item. Semi-circular travel pillow - I can fall asleep sitting up on an airplane, I don’t really have a need for this, inflatable or not. I see others with them and wonder, but I have yet to make the purchase Noise-canceling headphones - I thought today about moving these to the must-have list. I can’t hear movies very well on an airplane. The noise of the plane, other people, etc, makes watching a movie or anything difficult for me. I honestly think I just listened to music too loudly for years. For example, years ago I watched Superbad on an airplane (I know, what an R-rated, raunchy movie to have on a plane) months later I watched it again and realized just how many jokes I missed because I didn’t hear them. I could probably block out noise if I wanted to sleep too. What are your travel essentials? I don’t have that many must-have items, I am easily self-entertained. But I am always interested in hearing about other people’s necessary travel items.

My travel essentials wish list

This is a more of a wish list, for the moment. Yet it is a list that I consider essential for future travels, for me.

  1. Love it.
  2. A camera - This I have thought long and hard about. I love taking pictures, especially landscapes. I would like to know more about photography, yet I don’t have much interest in actually taking a class. When I read something about f-stop, aperture, ISO, etc, my eyes glaze over and I fall asleep. 4. Carry-on size rolling suitcase - obviously, I have my eye on this one

Other items that I have or that others may want.
