I am usually not the type of person who likes to take photos of people on public transportation, not even indirectly because it is such close quarters. However, this was a unique experience - these trolley buses were leftovers from the Soviet Era, and I had many photos of the outside, so I needed on while I was riding.
I hopped on without a ticket, thinking I could purchase one onboard. No. And, to make matters even more awkward, the ticket scanning system is kind of on the honor system. The driver is in a separate compartment in the front of the bus and you walk to one of the two ticket validation machines, validate your ticket and sit or stand. Since I had a ticket and I was somewhat terrified of getting kicked off, yelled at, or arrested (really, this thought went through my head), I walked to the back and sat down near the door.
No one paid attention, seemed to care, or bothered me for a ticket. Crisis averted.
