In less than a month I leave for my second trip of the year - February was Mexico, June will be Canada - because I'm headed to Banff. With all of my work and extracurricular activities lately, I've been slowly making plans for the trip. I obviously have flights, rental car, and hotels/Airbnbs booked, but since I am running a half marathon on the third day of the trip (Sunday, June 17th) and that thankfully will only take up the morning of that day. I am excited to see the town and surroundings on foot and I am hoping for really great weather on race day.
My plans so far consist of seeing the beautiful Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, going to Lussier Hot Springs, and seeing a spectacular view because I'm doing/climbing the Via Ferrata. Specifically, the 4 hours Ridgewalker route. The link for the Via Ferrata has a decent amount of information about what it actually is but this is better. One of my friends I'm going to Kilimanjaro with later this year just did a Via Ferrata in Kentucky and there are others in North America, so I'm excited to do my first one.
I will obviously see plenty of beautiful scenery during the half-marathon, and I have one free day before the race that I am not exactly sure what I am doing that day. I'm leaving it open for now. I've also got a few reservations and suggestions on where to eat and drink post race. I am really excited for the trip and it will be a great little birthday gift to myself.
