Struggling to write something
It has been almost a month since I've written anything and it is mainly because I have not been inspired and because I have been doing all that I can to just stay afloat and go through the motions of a daily routine. But, I have a lot planned for 2018 and a lot to look forward to in the next 365 days and so I thought I'd share my plans to ease back into writing.
February - I'm headed to Tulum, Mexico with a friend. She lives in Florida and we're meeting up down there for a 4 nights/5 days in a hostel in the town of Tulum. I've never been to Mexico so this will be a new country for me.
April and May - In April I'm headed to San Diego for work for a week, on Coronado Island. I've been to San Diego but never to Coronado, it should be less busy than our fall meeting so we usually have a little more time to enjoy the area. In early May, I'll be heading to Cincinnati with two friends to run the Flying Pig marathon, half, and 10k. I will be running the half, and I have already started to train because I have a big race in June.
June - In June I'm finally going to Banff in Alberta! I am really excited because it looks so beautiful and the destination has been on my list for years. I am going to run the Banff marathon too and I am a little scared! After a long weekend staying at a hostel in my own private room in Banff, I'll drive to Golden, British Columbia for a few days and sightsee along the way and spend some time in Glacier National Park Canada as well before heading home. I am beyond excited to see Lake Louise and all of the gorgeous scenery in the area. I know the marathon will be TOUGH but it will be good preparation for a November event.
August/September - In the fall of 2016, my friend Lindsey and I had an amazing trip in Central Europe and we decided to head south for our next adventure, to Chile and Argentina! Maybe Montevideo, Uruguay as well but right now we are thinking Santiago, Mendoza, and Buenos Aires. Another opportunity to speak Spanish! If my Spanish is not better by the end of the year it is my own fault.
November - This trip scares me a bit but I will be very ready for it when it arrives because I am already training and working on preparation for it now with marathon training, and getting into the best cardiovascular shape of my life, and saving all of the money that I can. I am going on an REI trip with a friend of mine to climb Kilimanjaro. We will take some extra time after the climb to do some other excursions in Africa, probably Zanzibar and a day safari, but all is not planned yet. One thing at a time.
I've committed myself to so much this year but I really want to do it all and I usually find a way to make it all work. It is the biggest travel challenge of my life to do all of this but I think it will make for good content and budgeting tips. Writing about it has already gotten me excited and a little more enthusiastic about things already. :)
